Raising and caring for injured, unwanted, stray and domesticated birds - Alex's Story

BARBALEX.jpg
Barbara & Alex
This worked out well for awhile until the cockatoo was killed in a tragic accident. Now Alex would not tolerate any human contact and resumed his screaming.
When his owner found out about my love for birds, he asked me if I could make Alex happy again. I told him I would try. Alex has made a wonderful pet. He loves being scratched by me and loves going out and being with other birds; he is quite the social butterfly and is so gentle with other birds. His new best friend is a Yellow Head Amazon about one fourth Alex's size. I have taught Alex how to kiss, hug and even wave. We now have a very strong bond.
Many of our rescued birds are transferred from family to family or resold eight times before they are 3 years old. Only then does someone call us and we find the bird a permanent and loving home.
